1 . WHAT IS ALLIANCE FRANCAISE MACAO?
Alliance Française de Macao is a non-profit organisation who is first and foremost committed to spread French language and culture in Macau.
We focus primarily on French classes for adults, teenagers and kids.
We organise cultural events throughout the year for Macanese to get to know Francophone culture and French important events such as our French National Day and the Beaujolais Nouveau.
2 . HOW DO WE DELIVER OUR COURSES?
All of our teachers are French native speakers coming from France and have a diploma of teaching French as a Foreign Language.
If you are a beginner for French, we suggest you join the A1.1 beginner course.
If you already have previous knowledge of French, we suggest you doing a placement test with us. Our teacher will find out a class which is appropriate to your level.
3 . HOW DOES THE PLACEMENT TEST WORK?
The test is designated for those who have already learned French. It will last around 30 to 45 minutes and the fee is MOP70.
You will be tested on your spoken and written skills.
Please contact us to make an appointment for the test during our office hours.
4 . Do I need to do a placement test first before enrollment If I haven't learnt French for over 6 months?
Yes, you need to do a placment test first if you have not studied French for over 6 months or above.
5 . How can I apply for a course certificate?
Please send us an email enclosed with your personal information and the name of your course.
You will be informed once the application is approved.
6 . Can I enroll into the class using the DSEJ subsidy?
Be aware that we don't always have the DSEJ subsidy for each session. Please contact us by phone or email to know if we have DSEJ classes at each session.
You need to fill in the application form and show us your ID Card if you want to enroll into the subsidy class.
7 . Can I ask to be transferred to another class?
If you want to join another class after enrollment, you need to submit us the application form and state the reason clearly for us to approve.
If you want to join a class of higher level, you need to get the approval from the teacher and the head of studies.
Please be aware that we will approve cases individually.
8 . Are there any private classes provided at AFM?
We do have private classes. They are given according to our teachers' availability as well as the student's availability. The timetable for private classes is flexible but they are usually given during the day as evening hours from 7pm are reserved for our programmed adult group classes.
In group or in private class, we teach students from 3 years old. We provide classes from Monday to Sunday from 10.00 am to 9.00 pm.
Adults class : We use the textbook Totem.
Kids class :
- 3-6 years old :
- 7-11 years old : textbook Les Loustics
Teenagers class :
- 12-16 years old : textbook Adosphère
Francophone FLAM kids and teens :
- 3-5 years old
- 6-8 years old
- 9-11 years old
- 12-16 years old
We provide FLAM class in group or one-by-one for native speakers all year round, with a summer break in July and August.
9 . Can I reserve seats for a course?
No, our courses are on a first come first served basis. We suggest you pay the fee in order to make sure you could enroll for the class which fits your schedule.
10 . May I know what the teaching language is?
French is used in the classroom for teaching. Auxiliary language is English. Our teachers don't speak Mandarin nor Cantonese.
11 . Do I have to come to AF in person if I want to join the course?
Yes. You need to fill in the enrollment form enclosed with a 1.5 inches photo and submit them to the reception at AFM.
12 . Is there a course exam?
Yes, there will be a final exam for each course. You may ask your teacher for more information.
